SCARSDALE PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING
SCARSDALE, NEW YORK
The new building will effectively tie into the current 1924 facility, paying tribute to Scarsdale's firefighting and police history. It will gracefully stand apart from its neighbors as a proud symbol of confidence, fortitude, and safety. The new addition/renovation will cleverly satisfy all of the present and future expansion needs. Special attention will be paid to the flow of public and private people traffic, noise level concerns, and multi-use flexible spaces.
The new Headquarters will fulfill all the program requirements including the design of a commercial kitchen with dining area, complete bath, shower, and locker facilities, various offices for the Chiefs, Inspector, Tour Commander, Detectives, and other Officers, a new dispatch area, multi-purpose rooms, an audio/visual training room, exercise room, comfortable living quarters, various equipment and clerical storage areas, miscellaneous support spaces as well as a new historically accurate roof.
Planning features include the careful organization of spaces so police and firemen's activities do not interfere with the public and office environment, and an additional apparatus bay for a future fire engine (pumper). Separate entrances for the public, private officers and staff are also provided.
