MORETRENCH HQ LOCATION ROCKAWAY, NEW JERSEY PROJECT TYPE Warehouse and Storage PROJECT DETAILS Size: 7,500 sq ft Status: Completed 2005 Includes: 3 stories, On-site parking This project is a complete renovation and addition for the headquarters of a national subsurface excavation contracting company. A former warehouse was gutted and renovated to provide offices, conference rooms, a welding shop, locker areas, and MEP systems. Design features included the addition of a large mezzanine, an interior garden, use of windows/ translucent light panels and two 15-foot wide skylights running the entire length of the building. WATERTOWN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS LOCATION WATERTOWN, CONNECTICUT PROJECT TYPE Municipal PROJECT DETAILS Size: 30,000 sq ft Includes: 36 vechile bays, 5 repair bays, 1 lift, 2400 ton salt shed, gas and diesel fuel station, interior wash bay, 36 hour generator, parts storage, office area, radiant heating A new Department of Public Works Facility. The new building and site addition and renovation, updates an older undersized building. LONGFELLOW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LOCATION MOUNT VERNON, NEW YORK PROJECT TYPE Education PROJECT DETAILS Size: 24,000 sq ft The City of Mount Vernon School System was seeking space to house the expanded activities of the Longfellow School. The 24,000 sq ft addition was designed to contain flexible space for various school and public events. Year-round programs provide a range of daily activities for children and adults including athletics, education, and arts and sciences. The design consists of a large flexible space with removable seating and because of this much of the space would be able to serve multiple purposes. This provides an area for a range of daily activities for children and adults. The building hosts a variety of athletic, educational, civic, and private events and activities including science fairs, lectures, and dances. Staff offices, meeting areas, and storage facilities support this space. Outdoor public areas adjacent to the building further promote social interaction and allow for outdoor activities and planned athletic events. Our design proposal includes several principles critical to any good design including: flexible space to be able to respond and adapt to changing interests and new program development, address special needs of seniors, especially regarding safety and security, collaboration with other town and community agencies, groups and activities, lobby viable transportation options, flexible classrooms, commercial kitchen, code items, parking/drop-off, and working with existing building architecture and site.
