The design includes demolishing the bathhouse complex, which is in disrepair, with the option of keeping portions of the existing concrete slab so as not to negatively impact the site and serve as the base for the new construction. The proposed new facility incorporates green building principles, sustainable building performance standards, energy efficiency, and careful selection of energy efficient building materials and equipment that results in a healthier outdoor environment. SCARSDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY LOCATION SCARSDALE, NEW YORK PROJECT TYPE Public Space PROJECT DETAILS This RFP was for New Public Library in Scarsdale, NY. The existing library was very rich in history and needed to expand for multi events and upgrade to contemporary setting. The design approach was to reflect the suburban area (low rise) and create the outdoor courtyard and landscape to be a part of library. PFGA and Aaron Cohen Associates, Library consultants teamed up for the RFP for specialized analysis and expert planning schemes. SAMARITAN VILLAGE THOMPSON VERTERAN'S CENTER LOCATION RICHMOND HILL, NEW YORK PROJECT TYPE Healthcare and Institutional PROJECT DETAILS Size: 19,000 sq ft Status: Completed 2016 Includes: 4 floors, interior multi-use spaces, support offices, group rooms, lounges, kitchen, dining hall, recreation areas Samaritan Village has been helping Veterans at this location for over 30 years, and the building was depressing and in need of much work. Instead of completely filling in the site with a two story building, the architectural vision was to stack the floor plates to create an onsite backyard with patio, garden and a basketball court. A complete gut renovation and addition was done to accommodate a 50-bed Veteran’s recovery facility complete with clinical support offices, flexible group rooms, recreation areas, commercial kitchen, storage, staff offices and separate quiet and tv/ radio lounges. The existing 2-story building was gutted down to the existing structure, including the removal of the front brick veneer. Two new floors were added with all new engineering and life safety systems, - all wrapped in a new front facade allowing large amounts of natural light creating a warm, inviting and proud and exterior finish. The interior design palate incorporated a variety of soothing paint colors, wood flooring, a bright kitchen spacious dining room, sensitive lighting and large clean bathroom facilities. The redesigned showroom and sales areas create a welcoming experience that is complemented by updated offices and a comfortable customer lounge. The service center and work areas have been upgraded to support efficiency, performance, and advanced automotive technologies. The scope of work includes the reconfiguration and design of the existing main hall / Theater and existing little theater, including lighting and sound systems, acoustic ceiling systems, and comprehensive upgrades to public restrooms and performer support areas.
